OANDA Onboards Lisa Shemie as Its General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
OANDA, a retail broker with operations worldwide, announced on Tuesday that it had appointed Lisa Shemie as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. According to the press release shared with Finance Magnates, she’ll be responsible for supervising the company’s legal functions globally and will be based in New York.
Prior to her new role at OANDA, Shemie was Chief Legal Officer at Cboe Global Markets, specifically on the FX Markets and SEF divisions. Also, she worked for over 15 years in financial institutions such as JP Morgan Chase. Her background also includes having served as Co-Chair of the Market Structure Subcommittee of the CFTC’s Market Risk Advisory Committee and as Chair of the Foreign Exchange Professionals Association.

In August, Karl Roessner was appointed to OANDA’s Board of Directors as a Non-executive Director. Prior to joining the retail broker, Roessner worked as the CEO of Lefteris Acquisition Corp. Furthermore, he was well-known in the financial industry for having worked as CEO of E*TRADE Financial Corporation and President of E*TRADE Bank.
