Terror cops arrest man who 'tried to cause explosion' after 'suspicious' package found in post

TERROR cops today arrested a man accused of trying to cause an explosion after a suspicious package was found in the post.

The man in his 20s was taken into custody by Counter Terror cops who were called to a house in Cambridge.

He was taken by officers to a south London police station.

It comes after a suspicious package was sent to a house in north London.

The contents were a "small improvised explosive device".

A Metropolitan Police statement said: "Detectives from the Met Police Counter Terrorism Command have today, Saturday 12 September, arrested a man in his 20s at an address in Cambridge, on suspicion of attempting to cause an explosion, or making or keeping explosives with intent to endanger life or property, contrary to Section 3 of the Explosive Substances Act 1883.

"An arrest was carried out at 0913hrs with the assistance of Cambridgeshire Constabulary Armed Response Unit as a precautionary measure.

"There is no risk to the local community."
