Ground Zero homeless man moved away by cops
The homeless man who set up camp in a cardboard shanty near Ground Zero was ordered to move Wednesday by police officers, who also gave him some cash “to get something nice to eat.”
About eight cops evicted homeless man James Eve, 43, from his spot in the shadow of the World Trade Center soon after 8 p.m.
One of the cops pulled up a Post story about the cardboard enclosure on his phone and showed it to Eve during the eviction.
“You’re in The Post,” he told him. “Congratulations. I’ve never been in the Post.”
The officer then gave him $20 and told him he had to move on.
“Take twenty. Get something nice to eat. But you got to go,” he said.
Eve thanked the officer and was last seen heading west on Vesey Street.
The officers then dismantled the cardboard shelter that Eve was living out of.
