Andrew Yang says Bloomberg will have ‘work cut out for him’ if he runs for president
Democratic presidential hopeful Andrew Yang thinks Mike Bloomberg will face an uphill battle if he throws his hat in the ring now.
In an interview with CNN on Friday, the former tech executive couldn’t be more complimentary to the three-term New York City mayor — but issued a warning.
“I’m friendly with Mike, and he’s a great philanthropist, was a really stellar mayor,” Yang said. “But I will say it’s going to be very, very difficult for him to jump in right now and somehow replace the thousands of conversations that many of the candidates have had with voters in New Hampshire and Iowa and around the country with ad buys. There are limits to what money can do.”
Yang added, “I think he’s going to have his work cut out for him if he jumps in.”
Sources told The Post Thursday that Bloomberg is mulling a run at the White House as a Democrat — and even dispatched aides to Alabama to begin gathering signatures there. The deadline for filing to be on the ballot in the state is Friday.
The news comes just months after the billionaire announced that he wouldn’t be running in 2020 — despite boasting that he could beat President Trump in the general election.
Bloomberg declined to comment as he hopped into his black SUV Friday morning.
